In 1916, the hotel played muse to none other than Agatha Christie. Seeking solace and inspiration, she spent two weeks here, diligently crafting her debut novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Christie described the hotel as “a large, dreary hotel with plenty of rooms,” yet it provided the perfect backdrop for her literary endeavors.
